2020 Water and Wastewater Master Plan for the lake-based systems
Water & Wastewater
The Region of Peel has initiated a Water and Wastewater Master Plan for its lake-based systems (where Lake Ontario is the source of drinking water and the discharge point for treated wastewater) to update the current 2013 Master Plan. The objective of the study is to:
- Identify a preferred lake-based water and wastewater servicing strategy to support existing servicing needs and projected growth
- Coordinate with the Regional Official Plan Amendment (ROPA), which guides Provincially mandated growth within the Region to 2041
- Consider emphasis on intensification, post-2041 growth and alignment with the Regional Strategic Plan
- Provide the business case for the need, timing and cost of servicing and infrastructure
- Follow the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment process for Master Plans
The study will incorporate the latest planning information, modelling tools, historical flow/demand data and servicing studies to complete a full review and update of the servicing strategies. The study will also review the Region’s capital plan to meet the current servicing agreements with York Region and the City of Toronto.
Study area
The study area for the 2020 Lake Based Water and Wastewater Master Plan includes the City of Mississauga, the City of Brampton and parts of the Town of Caledon.
