    Shelters

    If you need an immediate place to stay there are shelters available for youth, families, adults, and people fleeing violence or abuse.

    Call 905-450-1996 if you need a safe place to stay or access to shelters. We will do our best to find you a place. However, due to high demand, we cannot guarantee a shelter placement.

    There are several locations available across Peel, including in both regionally and community-owned shelters. Due to high demand, priority for shelter placement will be given to Peel Region residents when possible. For those living outside of Peel, we will connect you with other service providers based on your location.

    Review the following shelters by category to find the one that best fits your current needs.

    The fastest way for us to find you a suitable place to stay is to call the Central Intake Line anytime at 905-450-1996, unless otherwise noted in the following listings.

    If you are homeless and require medical care

    A referral must be made to WellFort Community Health Services who are operating the medical beds at Dundas Shelter. Email homelesshealthreferrals@wellfort.ca for more information and a referral form.

    Emergency shelters outside of Peel

    There may be spots available in emergency shelters outside of Peel region:

    Due to high demand, priority for shelter placement will be given to Peel region residents when possible.

    For those living outside of Peel, we will connect you with other service providers based on your location.

    While you are at the shelter, we will work with you to develop a case plan to help you, including applying for Ontario Works.

    Peel Region has emergency shelters in Brampton and Mississauga and a youth transitional housing facility in Mississauga. Other agencies also provide emergency shelter for women and children in Brampton and Mississauga. We'll help you find one when you call us.

    Your safety

    Shelters in Peel have 24-hour staffing and support from qualified professionals.

    If you're transgender, we can place you at the shelter where you will be most comfortable.

    Peel Region has a zero tolerance policy for any form of racism, violence, or harassment including but not limited to aggressive behaviour, physical threats or verbal abuse. We encourage everyone to conduct themselves in a respectful manner to maintain a positive environment for everyone.

    If a resident is in immediate danger and risk to their safety, they should call 911 immediately.

    Your comfort

    Shelter programs are part of the process of helping people end their homelessness while helping to meet their basic needs.

    From the moment you enter a shelter, there are supports and a plan to ensure a safe and appropriate exit from shelter.

    Your comfort is important to us. We can accommodate dietary restrictions and aim to provide a culturally safe, and inclusive environment in all our shelters.
