    Canada Post strike

    Access to some Peel Region services is affected by the Canada Post strike

    During the Canada Post strike, how you access our services and send and receive important documents to Peel Region may need to change.

    Peel Region will provide regular updates on the situation as new information is available. Check this page and our social media channels.

    Our Service Peel counters are open at our 2 Peel Region offices from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday. Holiday hours may impact this. However, payments can be made after hours by using our outside drop boxes. Online payment options are available for many Peel Region services.

    Refer to the following information specific to each Peel Region service.

    This information excludes water bills.

    Payment can be dropped off at Service Peel at 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday. Payments can also be made after hours by using our outside drop boxes.

    You can also, contact accounts receivable to arrange payment electronically.

    Send in all information using your Children’s Services account.

    If you cannot upload your documents, contact us at 905-793-9200 ext. 1810, Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

    Or you can drop off your documents at one of our Peel Region offices:

    • 7120 Hurontario Street, Mississauga

    There is also an after hours drop box outside both locations.

    Parents and guardians

    If you received the Healthy Smiles Ontario Parent Notification Form, drop off the completed form at any of the listed locations:

    • Service Peel - 7120 Hurontario St., Mississauga, Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
    • Brampton East Dental Clinic – 10 Peel Centre Drive, Suite A, Suite 101, Brampton, Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
    • Service Peel – 10 Peel Centre Drive, Suite A, Brampton, Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
    • Service Peel – Peel Art Gallery Museum and Archives (PAMA) – 9 Wellington St. E., Brampton, refer to PAMA’s hours.

    Once the Canada Post strike is over, resume mailing your completed Healthy Smiles Ontario Parent Notification Form to the address at the top of the form.

    Payments 

    • Payments for treatment may be delayed during the strike.
    • Electronic funding transfer. If you would like to set up electronic funding transfer, arrange with accounts payable.
    • If you would like to pick up payments at 10 Peel Centre Drive, contact ext. 5912.

    Due to the Canada Post strike, garbage tags are only available in-person at select locations.

    Alternatively, extra garbage can be taken to a Community Recycling Centre (CRC). A disposal fee will apply.

    Receiving rent subsidy

    You can drop off your documents at the nearest Peel Region office. There is also an after-hours drop box at both locations.

    Communicate any updates to your Housing Representative by phone, or email.

    Peel Living

    If you normally pay Peel Living rent by mail here are options for paying your Peel Living rent during the strike.

    Pre-authorized payment: your rent is automatically taken from your bank account on the first day of each month. Call Peel Living at 905-790-7335 to set this up.

    Electronic payment: you can pay your rent through your bank by phone, bank machine, or online.

    Certified cheque and money orders: you can drop off payment at:

    • 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton, Suite B, first floor drop off window.
    • 7120 Hurontario Street, Mississauga, first floor Human Services reception.

    Office hours are Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. After-hours drop box outside both locations  

    Cash or debit: visit the Service Peel customer service desk at our 2 Peel Region offices. 

    Subsidized housing applications or ongoing housing subsidy wait list applications

    You can drop off your application or update documents at your nearest Peel Region office. You can also drop off documents after hours in the outside drop off boxes.  

    You can communicate any updates to the Housing Client Services team by fax, phone, or email. Be sure to put your full name and client ID # on all documents.

    If you usually receive your invoice through the mail, you can instead use one of these options to make a payment:

    • You can come to your Long Term Care centre and pick up your statement.
    • We can deliver your statement, if requested, via an alternative carrier.

    Contact the Business Office at your Long Term Care centre for more information.

    Paper invoices will be sent home with clients during the Canada Post strike. If you usually pay for your services by cheque through the mail, you can instead use one of these options to make a payment:

    • In person, at your Adult Day Services centre by cash, cheque, or debit.
    • Signing up for pre-authorized debit.
    • Pay through bill payment.

    Contact your Community Support Services Coordinator for more information.

    If you are expecting your October Ontario Works payment or any other approved benefit by mail and have not received it by October 1, contact your Caseworker or visit your local Ontario Works office in person. Ensure you have photo ID.

    • All cheque payments issued on or after September 26 will be held at the office and must be picked up in person until the end of the strike.
    • We will not receive documents that you have sent by mail. Use MyBenefits to submit documents or come to the office to drop off in person.

    Contact your Ontario Works Caseworker if you need:

    • To be registered for direct bank deposit or the reloadable payment card so you can continue to receive your payments on time. Note that all reloadable payment cards will be issued and picked up at your local office.
    • Help signing up for MyBenefits to access your case information online

    Cheque pick-up window hours are Monday to Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Valid photo ID is required.

    Direct deposit

    October direct deposit payments will be deposited into bank accounts on September 29.

    Reporting monthly income to receive my Ontario Works assistance

    You can report your income through the following methods:

    • Phone
    • Fax
    • Emailing your Caseworker
    • Dropping off a completed Income Reporting Statement at a Peel Region office (drop boxes are also available for after-hours submissions).

    If your Ontario Works assistance is deposited directly into your bank account, you may not receive your printed statement during the strike. Statements will be issued once the strike ends.

    Eligibility information sent by mail may arrive later than expected due to the Canada Post strike. For status updates on recent applications, call 905-791-1015. 

    TransHelp account payment or purchase a taxi scrip voucher

    Applying for TransHelp during strike

    Visit the Apply for TransHelp page to view eligibility and to apply online for accessible transportation.

    If you receive your water bill by mail, the strike will affect delivery of water bills. For those customers looking to pay their bill, see their account balance, or check their billing due date, there are several options available.

    Sign up for Peel’s e-billing option. The account number and postal code is all that is needed to sign up. E-billing customers automatically receive an alert when a new bill is issued and payment is due. To sign up, visit: peelregion.idoxs.ca.

    Use the one-time payment feature as part of Peel Region’s e-billing services.  The EZ-Pay service can be used to make a one-time payment. EZ-Pay can also be used to check an existing bill amount or bill due date, allowing customers to still pay through their chosen method. Use EZ-pay.

    Call 905-791-8711 and press 2 to be brought to Peel’s Interactive Voice Response system to pay your bill.

    Vendors can pick up their payment cheques at 10 Peel Centre Dr. in Brampton.

    Vendors can also arrange for Electronic Funding Transfer through accounts payable or directly through their Peel Region partner.
