    4. Peel Long Term Care

    Our long term care centres

Peel Region operates 5 long term care centres: 2 in Mississauga, 2 in Brampton and one in Caledon.

Peel Long Term Care provide a place where our residents can live and enjoy a sense of belonging and have access to services, programs, and opportunities they need to thrive in each stage of their lives.

We provide exceptional person-centred care where the dignity of each person is respected while meeting their individual needs. We continue to innovate and improve our services and programs by using evidence-based and best practices to guide our decisions while always working to learn and understand our residents’ needs, wishes and preferences.

Our centres balance the clinical and emotional needs of the people in our care by supporting them through a lens of emotion-based care and connection. Our approach to care supports persons living with dementia by valuing their unique life history, interests, hobbies and experiences. Persons with dementia are engaged and interacted with in ways that are meaningful to them in environments that are less institutional and more reminiscent of home.

    Emotion-based care in our centres

All 5 of our centres have dedicated home areas that follow an emotion-based care model, and we will be working towards expanding this care approach throughout every home area. We will also explore opportunities to expand this care approach to our system partners in Peel Region Paramedics Services, Peel Police, Caledon OPP, and through our ongoing partnership with William Osler Health Centres.

For more information about emotion-based care approaches to care, contact a member of the leadership team at one of our centres.
