Health and well-being
Our approach to well-being is built into Our People Strategy. This means well-being isn’t a standalone initiative. Instead, it’s part of how we work, lead, and support each other every day.
Flexibility and hybrid offices
Our flexible work culture recognizes the importance of work/life balance.
Work and life balance are important, so we provide an inclusive, vibrant organizational culture and flexible ways of working that support health and well-being.
Through our flexible workplace practices, we’ve re-defined "how" employees work.
Depending on the role, we offer flexible hours and 2 different ways to work: onsite or hybrid. Employees are required to work onsite for a minimum of 2 days per week. Each work mode depends on the role and its operational requirements.
These work modes let you manage and combine personal and professional responsibilities while meeting operational requirements and customer service expectations.
A safe and healthy workplace
We take a whole-person approach to employee well-being that reflects the diverse needs and lived experiences of our workforce.
Our approach supports physical, psychological, emotional, financial, and social health, recognizing that employees have different needs at different stages of life.
We’re also strongly committed to fostering a psychologically healthy and safe workplace where employees feel respected, supported, and empowered to speak up.
We are committed to:
- Empowering employees with the tools, knowledge, and resources to support their well-being.
- Embedding well-being into organizational systems, policies, and everyday practices.
- Strengthening collaborative care pathways to support employees across the continuum of need.
Well-being is a shared responsibility at Peel Region. Leaders play a key role in creating supportive environments, while employees are empowered to take an active role in their own well-being.
Our approach aligns with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the National Standard of Canada for Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace, and is supported by ongoing measurement, feedback, and continuous improvement.
