Sanitary sewer relining and maintenance hole rehabilitation

Project update

Peel Region has been rehabilitating the sanitary sewer and maintenance holes (commonly called manholes) along Eglinton Avenue West. This work is required to keep providing you with high-quality wastewater services.

Contractor working hours

The work is being completed by Capital Sewer Services Inc. and supported by consultant AECOM Canada ULC, both under contract to Peel Region. Working hours are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday to Friday. These hours are consistent with local municipal bylaws and help shorten the amount of time construction is in your neighbourhood.

Under the City of Mississauga Noise Bylaw, work is allowed to take place overnight to reduce the impact of our work. Limited night work will take place on Eglinton Avenue West between Inverness Boulevard and Mississauga Road.

Traffic and parking

Day Time Traffic Impacts
We will need to temporarily reduce Eglinton Avenue West to one westbound lane between 1643 Eglinton Avenue West and 1918 Royal Credit Boulevard. All eastbound lanes will remain open during the day, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Road users will be able to travel in both directions on Eglinton Avenue West for the duration of the work. These traffic impacts will take place from Tuesday April 14 to Thursday August 13, 2026.

Short-Term Night Work Traffic Impacts
Eglinton Avenue West will be reduced to one westbound lane and two eastbound lanes between Inverness Boulevard and Mississauga Road for night work between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. This work will take place in late June for one to two nights.

In addition to these lane reductions:

It will not be possible to turn left onto Mississauga Road when travelling westbound on Eglinton Avenue West
It will not be possible to turn left onto Mississauga Road when travelling eastbound on Eglinton Avenue West
It will not be possible to turn left onto Eglinton Avenue West from Hewicks Lane.
It will not be possible to turn onto Eglinton Avenue West from Barbertown Road using the right turn-only slip lane next to the Credit River Bridge. Residents can still get to Eglinton Avenue West from Barbertown Road using the intersection at Eglinton Avenue West and Inverness Boulevard.

Signage will be placed before work starts. If we need to reschedule this work due to weather or unexpected events, we’ll let you know the new date and time. The attached maps show the planned day time and short-term night work areas.

Pedestrian Impacts

To facilitate this critical work, the sidewalk on the north side of Eglinton Avenue West will be closed between Inverness Boulevard and Mississauga Road. Pedestrians will be directed to use the sidewalk on the south side of Eglinton Avenue West.
