Project 19-1156
Streets affected: Centre Street from Williams Parkway to Ardglen Drive and Church Street East from Centre Street North to the Etobicoke Creek.
Peel Region will be replacing the watermains in your area within the next 2 years. This map shows the final plan for the watermain construction on Centre Street from Williams Parkway to Ardglen Drive and on Church Street East extending from Centre Street North to the Etobicoke Creek. Watermains are underground pipes that bring tap water from our water treatment facility to your neighbourhood. As pipes age, we need to replace them to provide you with high-quality water.
Construction will take place in the municipal right-of-way and within easements. This includes the street and the municipal-owned land between the street and the water service box, a small, round, metal valve located outside on the property line between your home or business and the road. An easement is where Peel Region has legal access to enter your property to maintain and improve Peel's infrastructure.
This work may impact the bottom of your driveway and the area around the sidewalk. We recommend that you delay major landscaping or driveway paving until construction is completed.
Before construction begins
Before construction starts:
- We'll use spray paint or flags on roads, driveways, and lawns to locate underground gas, hydro, and cable.
- We may drill holes in the road or municipal right-of-way to collect soil samples, determine ground conditions, or confirm utility locations.
- We'll take pictures and videos to help restore the area as close as possible to its former condition, after construction.
We expect these activities to continue until 2028.
Safety during construction
Construction zones require extra caution to keep everyone safe, including pedestrians, cyclists, drivers, and construction workers. When walking or driving through the construction area, please be aware of your surroundings, watch for construction crews and other road users, slow down, account for delays, and consider other routes if possible.

What to expect during construction
Refer to our short video to learn what to expect before, during, and after watermain construction. The video also answers common questions about:
- Why your water may be temporarily shut off.
- How traffic, parking, and waste collection may be affected.
- How driveways, roads, and sod (grass) are repaired.
Staying informed
We're currently in the early planning stages, so we cannot give exact dates. As your city's future planning activities may change, we may also update our plans to replace or install watermains. We'll deliver more detailed information closer to the start of construction.
