Construction details
Peel Region is widening Dixie Road from two to four lanes (two lanes in each direction) from Countryside Drive to 1.5 kilometres north of Mayfield Road. This major project will significantly improve the road corridor for residents and businesses and will accommodate current and future growth in the area.
The work consists of road excavation, grading for widening, major culvert replacement, storm sewers, not limited to catch-basins, storm structures and storm pipes, multi-use path, noise walls, curb and gutter, street lighting, intersection signalization, asphalt paving, and final restoration.
Construction schedule
Construction is expected to begin in October 2025 and be completed by Q4 of 2027.
Please note that this schedule is subject to several factors, such as the contractor's activity, weather, and unforeseen delays, etc.
Working hours
Hours of operation are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday to Friday. Occasionally, there may be weekend work to meet the project timelines.
The hours follow the municipal by-laws. We recognize that extended working hours may cause some inconvenience to the public; however, this will help to facilitate the completion of the project.
Traffic control
The project will be phased to minimize traffic disruption while maintaining a safe working environment as required under the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Existing traffic flows (two lanes) will be maintained during construction. However, due to the nature of the work, there will be instances of temporary slowdowns. As such, residents should expect delays.
Emergency access will be maintained at all times. Please use caution when travelling through the work zone.
Driveway access
We will do our best to maintain driveway access. If a temporary blockage is necessary, we will contact property owners directly to coordinate the work.
We will ensure businesses have access at all times.
