Etobicoke Creek Trunk Sewer Improvements and Upgrades Environmental Assessment Study

In 2019, the Region of Peel initiated a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (EA) Study to identify, develop and implement a solution to address

future capacity needs to 2041, and existing sanitary sewer issues in the Etobicoke Creek Trunk Sewer, from Kennedy Rd. to south of Highway 407 in the City of Brampton. The Schedule ā€˜C’ Class EA identified existing and future constraints for the Etobicoke Creek Trunk Sewer and developed and evaluated alternative solutions and design concepts.

The preferred solution and design concept consists of the following:

    • The preferred alignment is the Deep Trunk alignment generally following the Etobicoke Creek, stretching from the existing Etobicoke Creek Trunk Sewer at Kennedy Rd. to Derry Rd.
    • The method of construction is via tunnelling which involves digging shafts and using special equipment to tunnel underground between shafts. It is less intrusive, minimizing traffic disruptions and impacts to residents and businesses.

An Environmental Study Report (ESR) has been prepared and placed on public record for review in accessible format from May 30, 2023 through July 3rd, 2023. The ESR can be accessed on the project website. Written comments, on the ESR, can be sent directly in writing or by email to the Project Manager by July 3, 2023. All instructions on how to submit questions and feedback will be posted on the project website which you may access using the link below or by scanning the QR code with your smartphone here:
