Injuries and the spread of illness can be a concern when using public pools and spas. Review the information to help keep everyone safe.
Opening or reopening a recreational water facility
If you’re opening a new pool or spa water facility in Peel, Ontario regulation 565 under the Health Protection and Promotion Act requires you to notify Peel Public Health at least 14 days before opening a new facility.
If your water facility was closed for more than 4 weeks, you will need to notify us at least 14 days before your planned reopening date.
Report a pool or spa water facility opening or reopening
Water facility renovations involving construction must also be reported to us. Send us an email with these details about your renovation project:
- Building permit number issued for the construction or alteration of the pool or spa.
- Whether or not all the preparations necessary to operate the pool or spa in accordance with regulation have been completed.
- Date that the pool or spa is intended to be opened or re-opened for use.
- Class of a pool, whether the pool is intended to be operated as a Class A or a Class B pool.
- Name and address of the operator. O. Reg. 494/17, s. 5.
