Missed yard waste pickup
The yard waste truck is slightly delayed
Yard waste collection can happen later in the day, sometimes as late as 8 p.m. Since a different type of vehicle picks up yard waste, it could be collected after your garbage and recyclables.
The yard waste is in plastic bags
Yard waste in plastic bags will be left behind at the curb. If you bag your yard waste, use only Kraft brown paper open-top yard waste bags.
It's the wrong collection week
Check your collection calendar before setting out your yard waste.
Limbs and branches are too long or too wide
Single limbs and branches must measure less than 1.2 m (4 ft) and 10 cm (4 in) wide. Take larger branches to a Community Recycling Centre or consider hiring a professional to safely cut and dispose of the branches.
The brush is loose and not tied in bundles
Loose brush must be tied with string or twine into bundles to be collected at the curb. Bundles must be shorter than 1.2 m (4 ft), narrower than 76 cm (30 in) in diameter and weigh less than 20 kg (44 lbs).
The bag, bin or container is too heavy
Bags, bins, or containers filled with yard waste cannot weigh more than 20 kg (44 lbs) each.
There are unacceptable items in the bin, container, or bag
Only certain items are acceptable for yard waste pickup. If you aren't sure if an item is yard waste, use the waste sorter to check.
