    Drop off guidelines

    Guidelines and rules to follow when bringing waste and recyclables to a Peel Community Recycling Centre (CRC).

    All waste and recyclables taken to a Peel CRC must originate in Peel.

    • Ensure that children under 12 stay in the vehicle while you're unloading your waste items.
    • Properly secure your loads.
    • Dispose of your materials in the appropriate bin.
    • Do not stand on walls or guardrails while unloading waste items.
    • Be careful when throwing waste into bins.
    • CRC employees may choose whether or not to unload items from your vehicle.
    • Don't scavenge.

    Proof of residence

    For residents, acceptable documents providing proof of residence include:

    • A driver's license
    • A water, gas, or electricity bill
    • An internet or phone bill
    • Your municipal tax bill
    • A lease agreement (valid up to a year)

    For small businesses, an original signed letter on company letterhead.

    For contractors, a signed contract or work order with a Peel address referencing the company vehicle.

    Acceptable and unacceptable transport vehicles

    Vehicles accessing a CRC must meet certain requirements.

    Acceptable vehicles:

    • Cars, vans, and pick-up trucks.
    • Vehicles with trailers (maximum 12 m (40 ft) long).
    • Box trucks and cube vans (maximum 5 m (16 ft) long).
    • Vehicles with a total gross weight less than 5 tonnes (combined weight of vehicle and load).

    Tip truck loads – Fewster only

    Small tip trucks (maximum 7.50 m (25 ft) long) are accepted at only the Fewster CRC.

    Tip trailer loads

    Vehicles with tip trailers (maximum 12 m (40 ft) long) are accepted at only 4 designated CRCs. Review what items are accepted at each of the designated CRCs.

    Caledon CRC

    • Only accepts yard waste from tip trailer loads.

    Fewster CRC

    • Only accepts yard waste from tip trailer loads.

    Brampton CRC - accepts these items from tip trailer loads:

    • Shingles
    • Clean fill, sod, bricks, asphalt, and rubble
    • Clean concrete
    • Oversized and bulky items

    Heart Lake CRC - accepts these items from tip trailer loads:

    • Yard waste
    • Wood
    • Clean fill, sod, bricks, asphalt, and rubble
    • Clean concrete
    • Oversized and bulky items

    Unacceptable vehicles for all CRC locations:

    • Dump trucks
    • Stake trucks
    • Roll-off trucks
    • Garbage packer trucks
    • Tractor trailers
    • Any vehicle heavier than 5 tonnes (gross weight)

    For health and safety and liability reasons, CRCs cannot accept walk-ins, bicycle traffic, or e-bikes on the platform.

    You may walk or ride a bike, to drop off items at the Reuse or Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) areas of the CRCs. This includes material normally dropped off on the platforms, e.g., scrap metal (drop off at HHW area).
