    Respite care

    Overnight respite stays give caregivers in the community a scheduled break so they can rest, recharge, and take care of themselves - with the peace of mind that their loved ones are under the care of trained and compassionate staff.

    Respite care provides clients with a place to stay for a short period of time. Clients participate in recreational activities and programs during the day, while also being supported with their activities of daily living like bathing. Specific amenities and services include:

    • Private bedroom with a private bathroom.
    • 3 nutritious meals and snacks throughout the day.
    • Assistance with personal care and activities of daily living, including dressing, bathing, and washroom assistance.
    • Medication assistance provided by trained staff.
    • Access to recreational activities and services.
    • The reassurance of a Registered Nurse on-site.

    Respite care locations

    Seniors Health and Wellness Village at Peel Manor, Brampton

    Nestled within the serene Seniors Health and Wellness Village at Peel Manor, our 8-bed overnight respite care centre is designed to support our Adult Day Services clients and eligible members in the community. Overnight respite stays require a minimum 7-day stay, with a maximum stay of 2 weeks.

    Davis Centre, Caledon

    A single respite care bed is offered at the Vera M Davis Centre, which features high ceilings and spacious hallways and lounges. You can book your respite stay for up to 60 days at one time and as many as 90 days each calendar year. There is a minimum 14-night stay per booking.

    Eligibility

    Respite care is appropriate for adults who are frail, living with dementia, a disability, chronic illness, or other conditions. They are required to be 18 years or older and have a valid Ontario health card.

    • The respite bed at Davis Centre is booked until October 2025, and bookings are currently on hold.
    • Respite stays at the Seniors Health and Wellness Village at Peel Manor are currently reserved for existing Adult Day Services clients but will soon be offered to the community.

    Fees

    There is a daily fee of $79.65 for short-term respite at the Seniors Health and Wellness Village.

    For the Davis Centre, please contact your Ontario Health atHome coordinator to ask about the current rates, which are set by the Ministry of Long-Term Care.
