Medical waste exemption

Peel Region provides a garbage exemption for households whose amount of garbage exceeds the garbage collection limit due to a medical condition.

Eligibility

Medical waste exemption is subject to an evaluation process.

To be eligible for this service:

You must have a home address in Peel that receives curbside waste collection.
The medical waste in your household must exceed the current limit for garbage due to an existing medical condition.

This medical waste must contain one or more these items :

This list of items does not include syringes, needles, and lancets waste since these are not collected at the curb.

You’ll need to provide:

Your name, street address, date of application, phone number, and signature
The property owner’s signature and contact details if you are not the property owner.
A physician’s verification note with signature.

There is no cost for this service.
