Notice of Public Information Centre No. 2 - Schedule C Class EA

West Caledon Storage Facility and Transmission Main

Preliminary Preferred Solution

Background

The Region of Peel completed the 2020 Water and Wastewater Master Plan for the Lake-based Systems which identified the need to construct a new pressure zone 7 water storage and transmission main infrastructure for West Caledon. This Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (EA) was initiated to support this recommendation by developing, evaluating, and selecting a preferred storage facility and transmission main route to service the projected growth within the study area to 2051.

Public Information Centre (PIC) No. 1 was held on November 9th, 2022 and presented the study objectives, Class EA process and the evaluation and selection of the focus area for the new storage facility. PIC materials can be found on the project website.

Two additional PICs are planned for this project.

PIC No. 2

Date and Time: Wednesday, September 20th, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Location: Margaret Dunn Valleywood Library and Community Room, 20 Snelcrest Drive, Caledon, ON L7C 1B5

PIC No. 2 will outline the evaluation of the solution alternatives within the Infrastructure Focus Area, discuss the findings as per the Technical Discipline Studies, and present the selected preliminary preferred servicing solution including the location of the storage facility and transmission main alignment. Information will be presented on display boards and staff will be available to answer any questions and discuss the next steps in the study process. The final PIC (PIC No. 3) is planned for Spring 2024 and will be published at a later date.
