Steeles Avenue Environmental Assessment
The Region’s Long Range Transportation Plan identified the need to widen Steeles Avenue from Chinguacousy Road / Mavis Road to Winston Churchill Boulevard.
The Regional Municipality of Peel has completed the Schedule “C” Class Environmental Assessment (EA) study to evaluate the need and feasibility of a widening and improvements on Steeles Avenue to address short and long term needs related to:
- Future planned growth
- Road operation and function
The study also reviewed opportunities for transit, pedestrian and cycling facilities.
The Class Environmental Assessment planning process includes public and review agency consultation, evaluation of alternatives, assessment of the effects of the proposed works and identification of measures to mitigate any adverse impacts.
Details of the EA can be accessed in the Environmental Study Report.
