Peel wins NAHMMA's Longstanding Program Excellence award

Body

BRAMPTON, ON (July 11, 2024) – Peel Region's Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) program recently won the North American Hazardous Materials Management Association’s (NAHMMA) Longstanding Program Excellence award. This award recognizes programs that have been in service for more than 20 years which have consistently gone above and beyond to serve their community and the HHW profession.

Peel's six Community Recycling Centres (CRCs) provide free and safe HHW disposal to residents and registered small businesses. Hazardous waste items should not be put in the garbage, recycling, or organics bin, or flushed down a sink or drain.

NAHMMA is an association dedicated to pollution prevention, product stewardship, and the safe and cost-effective handling of hazardous materials.

This recognition reflects our team's ongoing dedication to providing safe and effective HHW disposal for our community. Ensuring the proper disposal of hazardous waste is important work, as it directly supports Peel's long-term goal of diverting 75% of its waste from landfills by 2034.
