Peel Region presents key advocacy priorities to provincial election candidates
BRAMPTON, ON (February 18, 2025) – Ahead of the February 27th provincial election, Peel Region is calling on all political parties and candidates to commit to addressing critical challenges impacting Peel residents and businesses.
Peel Region requires strong collaboration with the next provincial government to ensure sustainable growth and meet the needs of Peel’s diverse and vibrant community. Provincial support is needed to address historic underfunding, the housing affordability crisis, infrastructure demands, mental health and addiction services, and support for vulnerable populations.
As such, Peel Region is advocating for 10 key priorities that provincial parties and local candidates should consider and support:
- Address provincial funding shortfalls for health and social services
- A new municipal fiscal framework
- Making housing affordable
- Addressing homelessness in Peel
- Accelerated infrastructure spending for housing targets
- Making municipalities whole – development charges shortfall
- Focusing on mental health and addictions
- Support for seniors – dementia care
- Addressing the pressures of supporting asylum claimants
- Combatting intimate partner violence
Peel Region looks forward to working with the next provincial government on these priorities that are critical to Peel’s residents and businesses. Sustainable investments in infrastructure, housing, and human services will not only benefit Peel, but also contribute to Ontario’s economic and social well-being.
