Peel Region outlines advocacy priorities to federal election candidates
BRAMPTON, ON (Apr. 17, 2025) – In advance of the upcoming federal election, Peel Region is urging all political parties and Peel-area candidates to commit to advancing key priorities that will support Peel residents, businesses and long-term economic sustainability.
Responding to current challenges, including the impacts of U.S. trade tariffs, providing support for asylum claimants and building housing-enabling infrastructure will require support from the next federal government.
Peel Region is dedicated to collaboration with all levels of government to ensure every resident has a place to call home, has access to critical services, and benefits from infrastructure investments in our communities.
As such, Peel Region is advocating for key priorities that federal parties and local candidates should consider and support:
- Strengthening Canada’s economy by investing in Peel
- New infrastructure stimulus programs
- Combatting climate change
- Making housing affordable
- Ensuring sustainable federal support for asylum claimants
- Enhancing integration of seniors dental programs
- Making child care accessible and affordable
Peel Region looks forward to working with the next federal government on these priorities that are critical to Peel’s residents and businesses. Peel Region continues to play a critical role in addressing national challenges, including sheltering asylum claimants, delivering climate action, and strengthening trade infrastructure and seeks strong federal commitments to support.
