Peel Region celebrates opening of Cornerstone Suites
BRAMPTON, ON (September 12, 2024) – Today, Peel Region is celebrating the opening of the Cornerstone Suites project in Mississauga’s Streetsville community. Cornerstone Suites is a housing project that includes 40 affordable, supportive rental housing units; 10 of which are accessible units.
The development of Cornerstone Suites is led by Indwell Community Homes, a valued partner of Peel Region, and the project was funded by the Federal Government’s Rapid Housing Initiative, the Province of Ontario’s Social Services Relief Fund, Peel Region, and Indwell Community Homes.
The vision of this project is aligned with the Peel Housing and Homelessness Plan to build more community and supportive housing and make use of existing infrastructure. Cornerstone Suites includes the restoration of 2 existing 19th century heritage homes. This approach blends cultural heritage and character with modern, energy-efficient design.
As a supportive housing building, Cornerstone Suites provides individual-based supports and services that contribute to living independently. With its convenient location in the Streetsville community, Cornerstone Suites is perfectly situated to facilitate community integration and engagement.
Peel Region is experiencing a housing crisis with residents from all walks of life struggling with housing affordability or experiencing homelessness. As service manager, Peel is tackling the crisis by pursuing partnerships with all levels of government, non-profits, and community agencies, and implementing innovative solutions that optimize existing stock while aligning with community need.

Peel is committed to helping residents GET and KEEP housing and preventing homelessness. By collaborating with the federal and provincial governments and community partners like Indwell Community Homes, we are able to not only add more affordable and supportive units in the community, but to make a real difference in the lives of our most vulnerable residents.
