Enjoy an Art-filled September with PAMA

Meet artists Russna Kaur and Peter Powning

Brampton, ON. (September 7, 2022) – Visit the Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives (PAMA) in downtown Brampton this September to meet exhibiting artists Russna Kaur and Peter Powning. Kaur's work is on display on the exterior of PAMA's Art Gallery building until January 2023 while Powning's work, featuring pottery and other unique sculptural forms, is on display in the Art Gallery until October 30. Families can also drop-in at PAMA to participate in various creative activities related to the exhibitions.

Free admission to PAMA exhibitions and programs continues until Nov. 19 as PAMA gets ready to re-open some spaces in the Museum.

Artist Talk: Meet Brampton-raised artist Russna Kaur in person
Saturday, Sept. 17, 2 – 3 p.m.

Join PAMA, the Arts, Culture and Creative Industry Development Agency (ACCIDA) and Russna Kaur for a conversation about the creation of the new site-specific artwork. Kaur will discuss her body of work Maze of control and the slightest chaos in conversation with guest curator Renée van der Avoird. Depending on the weather conditions, this talk will be hosted outside in front of the artwork. Reserve your spot now.

Virtual Artist Talk: Learn what inspires Peter Powning
Thursday, Sept. 22, 7 – 8 p.m.

Artist Peter Powning will discuss how living on the same farm for 52 years has inspired his practice as a sculptor and ceramicist, and share ideas about self-sufficiency as witnessed through the evolution of his work in the exhibition Peter Powning: A Retrospective.

Do you know a teen looking for a volunteer opportunity? Check out the PAMA Youth Council. The Youth Council will enable youth to share their stories and build community through exhibitions and programming for youth by youth. Learn more and apply.
