Region of Peel announces Kealy Dedman as Commissioner of Public Works
Brampton, ON. (March 2, 2021) – The Region of Peel announces Kealy Dedman as the Commissioner of Public Works as of March 29, 2021. In this role, Kealy joins the members of Peel’s Executive Leadership Team, and will be responsible for overseeing the Region’s Public Works services.
Kealy comes from the City of Guelph, where she was most recently the Deputy Chief Administrative Officer – Infrastructure Development and Enterprise Services. She has extensive experience in engineering, transportation and environmental services in the public sector, working directly with citizens, stakeholders, and government officials at all levels. Over the past 25 years, in addition to working with the City of Guelph, she held progressive leadership roles at the City of Cambridge and the City of Mississauga all in a Public Works capacity.
Kealy holds a Masters of Public Administration from the University of Western Ontario and a Bachelor of Science Engineering focusing on Civil Engineering as well as a Bachelor of Science on Biology from Queen’s University. She is the Chair of the Regional Public Works Commissioners of Ontario and the former President of the Canadian Public Works Association.

She has served several Ontario communities over the years, and can bring this diverse perspective to Peel, as we support a growing and changing community,” said Janice Baker, Chief Administrative Officer at the Region of Peel. “I am confident that she can effectively lead Region’s Public Works department, ensuring we continue our legacy of providing safe, reliable, high quality Public Works services that protect and enhance the environment.”
As Commissioner of Public Works, Kealy will lead the Region of Peel’s Public Works Department, consisting of Development Services, Operations Support, Planning, Transportation, TransHelp, Waste Management, and Water and Wastewater.
