Region of Peel announces Julie Pittini as Acting Commissioner of Finance and Chief Financial Officer

Brampton, ON (February 5, 2020) – The Region of Peel announces Julie Pittini as the Acting Commissioner of Finance and Chief Financial Officer as of March 8, 2021. In this role, Julie joins the members of Peel’s Executive Leadership Team, and will be responsible for ensuring the ongoing financial sustainability of Regional services.

Julie joined the Region in 2017, bringing more than 15 years of finance, investment management and leadership experience with her. While taking on the role of Acting Commissioner of Finance and Chief Financial Officer, she is temporarily vacating her position as Director of Treasury Services, overseeing the strategic development and execution of the Region’s first active Cash Management Strategy. Julie has worked with a broad stakeholder group including municipalities, other levels of government, Peel Housing Corporation and our internal colleagues to strengthen the Region’s financial partnerships and position.

Moving forward, the Region will be consolidating the Corporate Services and Finance departments. Recruitment efforts for a new Commissioner of Corporate Services and Chief Financial Officer has already commenced.

“The work that is undertaken in the Corporate Services and Financial Departments is essential to the success of the Region of Peel as an organization.  This consolidation will allow us to capitalize on the strengths of both departments and build on an already collaborative culture in the delivery of integrated internal services,” said Janice Baker, Chief Administrative Officer at the Region of Peel. “As we conduct a fulsome search for a new Commissioner of Corporate Services and Chief Financial Officer, I am confident that Julie’s experience and expertise will help ensure the Region continues its legacy of strong financial management.”

As Acting Commissioner of Finance and Chief Financial Officer, Julie will work to maintain the Region’s principles of sound financial management and careful planning – key elements in providing cost-effective services to the community.
