Brampton, ON. (June 7, 2024) – Gary Kent, Peel Region Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), has been elected to the Executive of the Canadian Association of Municipal Administrators (CAMA) 2024-2025 Board of Directors.

CAMA is a national, non-profit association comprised of senior professionals employed by Canadian municipalities. CAMA champions excellence in municipal administration, providing networking opportunities and professional development resources for their members.

Gary Kent is a CPA, CGA and a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). He also holds an ICD.D designation, having graduated from the Directors Education Program from the Institute of Corporate Directors, Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto.

Prior to being named Peel Region CAO in 2023, Gary held the role of CFO and Commissioner of Corporate Services for Peel. He held the same position with the City of Mississauga, where he worked for 25 years. He also worked in the UK as the Finance Manager for a large private sector transit company and served as the CEO of Enersource Corporation.

In addition to his work with CAMA, Gary’s Board and Committee experience also includes the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Global Council and in the past has served on many community boards.

Gary Kent will serve as Member of the Board Executive as the CAMA Treasurer and also the Board Member-At-Large for Municipalities with a Population Over 100,000, on a path to being President in 3 years.

CAO Gary Kent’s election to the CAMA Board of Directors Executive is an important recognition and underscores Peel Region’s strong reputation for service excellence on a national level. This would not be possible without our Peel Region team, who work hard each day to ensure residents receive the programs and services they require.
