Peel Celebrates National Public Works Week
BRAMPTON, ON (May 21, 2024) – May 19-25 is National Public Works Week, a yearly event which shines a spotlight on Public Works professionals who work to enhance quality of life and provide services which contribute to healthier, safer, and more vibrant communities.
The theme of this year’s Public Works Week is Advancing Quality of Life for All.
In Peel, our Public Works team proudly promotes quality of life by providing residents with high-quality drinking water, well-maintained roads, reliable waste and recycling programs, and specialized public transit. We’re also supporting Peel’s growth by providing services to advance and sustain healthy, thriving communities.
Over the past year, Peel’s Public Works team:
- Produced 590 million litres of water per day.
- Operated 4,700 kilometres of watermains.
- Maintained 1,700 kilometres of regional roads.
- Managed more than 570,000 tonnes of waste.
- Provided 700,000 transit trips to Peel residents with disabilities.
- Secured 165 hectares of conservation land.
- Maintained infrastructure assets valued at $36 billion.
