Peel wins the OPWA's Project of the Year award
Brampton, ON. (June 17, 2024) - Peel Region has received the Public Works Project of the Year Award in the Transportation Projects $10 Million and Up category from the Ontario Public Works Association (OPWA).
Peel Region received this award for the completion of the Bovaird Drive Transformation at Mount Pleasant Village. This project successfully replaced a westbound bridge which had reached the end of its service life, created a seamless merge with an existing eastbound bridge and widened Bovaird Drive to six lanes. New multi-use pathways, cycling crosswalks, rest station benches, upgraded intersections and enhanced streetscaping were also implemented to promote accessibility, active transportation, and a pedestrian-friendly environment.
The OPWA Project of the Year award recognizes excellence in management and administration, and celebrates the alliance between the managing agency, consultants, architects, engineers, and contractors who work together to complete public works projects.
I'm delighted that Peel Region has received the OPWA's Public Works Project of the Year Award. This recognition reflects Peel's commitment to enhancing infrastructure, expanding our transportation network, and creating a Community for Life where mobility, walkability, and various modes of transportation are safe and accessible.
