    Design, specification and procedures manual

General summary of major drawing revisions
    • Dimensions for precast valve chambers for 400 diameter PVC and CPP pipe have been revised to 1800mm width and 150 diameter drain outlets have been revised to suit smaller chambers.
    • All precast valve chamber top slabs, access risers and valve removal caps have been revised with increased depth of cover to address the issues encountered in field installation with road cross-fall elevation change and curb depths. Factory cast access riser collars have been added and adjustment units revised to provide greater flexibility for chamber installation and grades.
    • Waterproof membrane application limits have been revised to include overlapping the joints at factory cast collars and hatch risers.
    • Depth of cover to watermains has been increased to 1900mm at all precast valve chambers to accommodate valve heights and internal chamber requirements.
    • 400 diameter gate valves with integral by-pass piping and valving have been revised to a shorter body style without by-pass connections.
    • Restrained couplings within chambers have been revised from a Depend-O-Loc style to Victaulic rigid style couplings. For pipe diameters less than 400mm, Victaulic Style 31 couplings are required. For CPP pipe diameters of 400 to 600mm, Victaulic AGS Style W77 are required. For PVC pipe diameter of 400mm, Victaulic Style 31 couplings are required. For CPP pipe diameters of 750mm or greater, Victaulic AGS Style W77 couplings are required.
    • D.I. pipe revised to Class 53 for all grooved coupling applications using Victaulic style 31.
    • General notes and references detail (1-1-0) section on precast concrete chambers has been revised to indicate manufacturer’s design requirements or OCPA comments.
    • Valve restraining detail (1-3-3A) has been deleted and a complete table of mechanical thrust restraint requirements for 100 to 400mm PVC pipe has been added as a new dwg. (1-5-9).
    • Watermain general bedding detail (1-5-1) which was previously deleted in November 2011 has been reinstated and Styrofoam in rock/shale trench revised to polyethylene foam.
    • Sampling station enclosures containing sampling, flushing and pressure transmitting services have been revised to a PVC capped pipe style of housing (1-7-6).
    • AFO Outlets have been added on all chambers from 750 diameter piping up to 2400 diameter (2400 had already been added).
    • 2100 diameter pipe chamber has been increased by 300mm (to allow for AFO Outlet)
    • Minimum distance from chamber walls to restrained flexible couplings revised from 1000mm to 600mm. List of acceptable CPP couplings added to chamber dwgs.
    • 600 CPP precast chambers revised with addition of 150 diameter bypass/drain line
    • 600 CPP precast double drain chamber dwg 1-3-23 deleted as 1-3-21 and 1-3-22 have been revised with the 150 diameter bypass/drain line.
    • For steel pipe, coatings revised from Fusion Bonded Epoxy AWWA C213 to Liquid Epoxy AWWA C210
    • PRV in chamber dwg 1-3-17 re-formatted to 11x17 and revised to scale with 300 main piping and valve. Joint at removable top cap revised on monolithic chamber top section.
    • General note added on 50mm Blow-off dwg indicating that blow-off sizing must match watermain sizing based on standards 1-7-7 & 1-7-8. Noted that this is an interim measure for the April 2014 release and a new detail will likely be added to address 100mm blow-off sizing.
    • General note revisions as applicable throughout entire set for minor consistency items.
    • Refer to "April 2014 Standard Drawing Updated List of Drawings" for general list of revisions for each drawing
