Design, standards specification and procedures
These documents are intended to assist consultants, engineers, inspectors, and regional staff involved in the design and delivery of Regional Infrastructure and Services, as well as those involved in submitting engineering proposals and agreements for land development.
Specifications and procedures listed here might not apply in all circumstances. Communicate directly with the appropriate Regional staff to consider variances on a case by case basis. Engineers are still responsible for ensuring that a design meets all federal, provincial, regional and local government requirements. This review does not release engineers from this responsibility.
The Region shall review and approve all plans before construction starts.
Updating the manual
The Region will periodically review and update the information within these documents based on current information and needs. To the best of its ability the Region will ensure that the documents made available ae the most recent version of the document(s) being utilized by the Region. The Region can not guarantee that all the information within these manuals is accurate, complete, or current at all times.
These documents shall be read in conjunction with any project or contract documentation. If any discrepancies are noted between the documentation the more stringent requirement shall prevail unless otherwise stated within the project documentation or contract.
The latest revision date will be clearly stated on each of the documents listed. Updated versions of the manual will include new products that the Region’s Technical & Materials Review Committee has accepted. Anyone utilizing any listed documentation shall be responsible to confirm that they are utilizing the most recent versions of the documentation. Contact your Regional constituent directly to confirm.

Construction specifications documents outline general conditions, construction specifications and basis of payment for capital works projects in the Region.
Volume 2 contract documents for road, watermain and sanitary sewer projects form part of the contract for capital works projects in the Region.
Region of Peel standard drawings and lists of approved products form part of the contract documents. References are also made to various Ontario provincial standard specifications. These will be considered part of the contract documents where noted.
The latest and applicable version of Supplemental General Conditions Vol. 2.1, shall be as indicated in the Procurement Document and Contract.

Basis of payment
Region of Peel standard drawings illustrate Regional requirements and construction practices for the installation of municipal works.
The corresponding Ontario Provincial Standard Drawing (OPSD) applies to areas that do not have an applicable Regional standard drawing.
These standard drawings apply to only work on municipal property:
- Watermain and appurtenances
- Sanitary sewer and appurtenances
- Within proximity of LRT
- Electrical traffic standards
- Roads and traffic
