The Region of Peel has been working in your neighbourhood to replace the watermain along Main Street South. This work is required to maintain and improve existing water services.
At this stage in the project, temporary lane reductions on Main Street South will be required to complete this work. The schedule has been revised. This is the updated schedule for Phase 1 and Phase 2 work on Main Street South and John Street.
Monday, August 28, 2023, until Friday, September 1, 2023
Phase 1: Traffic impacts
- It will be necessary to bring the new watermain into service on John Street and Main Street South, as shown in the phase 1 detour map.
- For this reason, northbound Main Street South is closed from Wellington Street to Queen Street. Therefore, there will be no access between Main Street South and John Street.
- John Street has been converted to a two-way during the duration of this work. John Street is accessible from Chapel Street with the assistance of Paid Duty Officers.
- During this work, one lane of southbound traffic is open on Main Street South from Queen Street to Wellington Street.
- Please note that over the long weekend, one northbound lane and one southbound lane will be open on Main Street South from Wellington Street to Queen Street. John Street will be converted back to a one-way street and will be accessible from Main Street South.
