Projects 18-1380 and 11-2380 - April 10, 2023 update
Street affected: Garden Square, Brampton
Road repairs and resurfacing
The Region of Peel has been working in your neighborhood to replace the aging watermain and sanitary sewer along Queen Street. This work is required to maintain and improve existing water and wastewater services.
At Garden Square, the Contractor will be completing directional drilling from Main Street North to Garden Square, in order to replace the pipe between the Main Street watermain and the fire hydrant near the fountain. As part of this work, small pits will need to be excavated in order to launch the new pipe from one end, and received at the other to facilitate the connection to the fire hydrant.
Construction schedule
Construction is expected to occur from 8 a.m. on Monday, April 17, 2023, until 5 p.m. on Friday, April 21, 2023, depending on weather and soil conditions.
Contractor and working hours
The work will be completed by CRCE Construction Group under contract to the Region of Peel. This contractor’s normal working hours are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday to Friday. These hours are consistent with the local municipality’s bylaws. We understand this may cause some inconvenience, but shorter working days would require your neighbourhood to be under construction for a longer period of time.
Pedestrian impacts
The east sidewalk on Main Street North will be closed. Pedestrians can still walk through Garden Square to bypass the work zone within Garden Square and the west sidewalk can also be utilized during this work.
Transit impacts
The northbound bus stop #1732 and southbound bus stop #1786 serving Route 2 will be shifted north, closer to Nelson Street/Theatre Lane throughout the duration of this work.
Traffic impacts
The northbound curb lane on Main Street North will be closed. Traffic will be shifted throughout the duration of this work, but one lane of traffic will always be maintained in each direction.
