Project 24-2274
Streets affected: The Gore Road
Construction work in your area
Peel Region will be installing new watermains and sanitary sewers along The Gore Road, as shown on the attached map. Watermains are underground pipes that bring tap water from our water treatment facility to your neighbourhood. As our population grows, we need to build larger watermains to provide you with high-quality water. Sanitary sewers are underground pipes that carry wastewater from your home or business to a water resource recovery facility. Wastewater is created when water goes down a drain or toilet. As our population grows, we need to build larger sewers to provide you with high quality wastewater services.
Construction is planned to start July 7, 2025 and finish in the end of 2026. These dates may change due to weather and other unexpected events.
Contractor working hours
The work will be completed by Erritt Construction Ltd. And supported by Schaeffers as the Consultant, both under contract to Peel Region. Working hours are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday to Friday. However, there will be periods in which the Contractor will be working outside of normal working hours (i.e. working on weekends and overnight between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m.) to reduce the impact of our works on traffic congestion and to expedite the work schedule. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience caused by this work.
Traffic and parking
We will need to temporarily close roads or reduce traffic to a single lane. If this is needed, we’ll place signs with directions.
Interrupting your water supply
We may need to temporarily shut off your water.
For residents:
- If we need to shut off your water for several hours, our goal is to let you know 48 hours (2 days) in advance. Sometimes, we must reduce this notice to 24 hours.
- If we need to shut off your water for a short time (less than one hour), we’ll knock on your door.
For businesses:
- If your business needs a continuous water supply and you have not already completed a water needs survey, please let us know when and how your business uses water.
If we need to shut off your water due to an emergency, we’ll knock on your door and do everything we can to fix the problem quickly.
Construction safety
Construction zones require extra caution to keep everyone safe. Be aware of your surroundings when driving, walking, or biking near the construction area. Watch for construction crews and other road users, slow down, and consider other routes. Visit peelregion.ca/workzonesafety for more information.
