Project 24-1370 A – September 24, 2025 update
Streets affected: Heather Street, Terry Street, Kentbridge Court and Vaughan Drive
The new watermains on Vaughan Drive, Heather Street, Terry Street and Kentbridge Court have now been installed. Next, we will bring them into service by transferring the water service pipe from the old watermain to the new one. The water service pipe carries water from the watermain to your home.
A new water service pipe will be installed from the watermain to your water service box, a small, round, metal valve located outside on the property line between your home or business and the road. A new water service box will also be installed by digging it up in the lawn or driveway and impacting an area at least two square meters.

Where possible, your water service pipe will be installed using tunneling equipment. If tunnelling isn’t possible due to ground conditions, the contractor will dig a trench. This trench might cause temporary damage to roads, curbs, sidewalks, boulevards, lawns, and the bottom of driveways.
Construction schedule
We’ll start connecting water service pipes on Vaughan Drive around September 24, 2025. Once this street is completed, we’ll proceed to Heather Street, Terry Street and Kentbridge Court. We expect to be finished by October 24, 2025.
Once we have connected all properties on to the new watermain, we will start repairing driveways, roads, curbs, sidewalks, and sod (grass). If we are not able to complete repairs this year, we will temporarily patch driveways, roads, curbs, and sidewalks for the winter, and return in the spring of 2026 to complete final repairs. All work is warrantied for two years from the completion date.
What to expect during construction
Refer to our short video to learn what to expect before, during, and after watermain construction. The video also answers common questions about:
- Why your water may be temporarily shut off.
- How traffic, parking, and waste collection may be affected.
- How driveways, roads, and sod (grass) are repaired.
Contractor working hours
The work will be completed by Ground Breakers Contracting and designed by Environmental Infrastructure Solutions Inc., both under contract to Peel Region. Working hours are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday to Friday. These hours are consistent with local municipal bylaws and help shorten the amount of time construction is in your neighborhood.
Interrupting your water supply
We will need to temporarily shut off your water.
- On the day we connect your water service to the new watermain, the contractor will let you know that your water will be shut off for about 30 to 45 minutes.
- If we need to shut off your water for several hours, our goal is to let you know 48 hours (2 days) in advance. Sometimes, we must reduce this notice to 24 hours.
If we need to shut off your water due to an emergency, we’ll knock on your door and do everything we can to fix the problem quickly.
Construction safety
Construction zones require extra caution to keep everyone safe. Be aware of your surroundings when driving, walking, or biking near the construction area. Watch for construction crews and other road users, slow down, and consider other routes. Learn how to stay safe in construction zones.
Repairing impacted areas
Once new water service pipes are connected to all properties on your street, we’ll repair the road, curb, sidewalk, driveways, and lawns.
Repairs may be delayed due to seasonal weather conditions. For example:
- Paving cannot take place when the ground is saturated with water, or the temperature is below 3°C.
- Asphalt is not available in large volumes during the winter and usually becomes available in mid-May.
- Most sod farms have sod available beginning in late May. We replace sod until the middle of November, weather permitting, to let the roots grow. If we do not replace it by the middle of November, we’ll replace it the following spring.
Repairing grassy areas
The contractor will replace any damaged sod on the boulevard or your front lawn and will take care of it for 30 days. You can help the sod stay healthy by watering it. A longer watering works better than watering more frequently for a shorter time. Early morning watering allows more water to soak in.
Repairing driveways
- Interlock or concrete driveways: If we damage a portion of your driveway, our contractor will repair the damaged portion.
- Asphalt driveways: If we need to cut a section of your driveway, it will be repaired by paving a strip over the impacted area, resulting in minimal seams. Peel cannot replace your entire driveway. If you would like to have the rest of your driveway paved, please contact the contractor, Ground Breakers Contracting, at (416) 559-2313. The contractor will then share contact information for the company hired to do the paving repairs. Remember this is your choice. If you decide to have your entire driveway repaved, this extra paving work is your responsibility and outside Peel Region jurisdiction.
