Construction work starting in your neighbourhood
Peel Region is working in your neighbourhood to rehabilitate the existing sanitary sewer system and maintenance holes (commonly called manholes) as shown on the attached map. Sanitary sewers are underground pipes that carry wastewater from your home to a water resource recovery facility. Wastewater is created when water is flushed down the toilet, or goes down the drain in your sink, tub, or shower.
To extend the service life of the sewer under these streets, Peel Region’s contractors will clean the existing sewer pipe and place a new resin (plastic) lining within it. This work will be completed underground with specialized equipment and will not require digging trenches in your neighbourhood.
As part of this project, we will also repair some sections of the sanitary sewer and repair or replace aging maintenance holes. This work will ensure the sanitary sewer system can continue to be accessed and maintained from the maintenance holes. Most of our work will involve repairing maintenance holes. When we need to partially replace the maintenance hole, we will share additional information with affected residents and businesses before the work begins.
Construction schedule
Construction on Erin Centre Boulevard is planned to begin in April 2025 and will be completed by the end of summer 2025. During this time, our crew may be working near your home or business for a few weeks:
- We will rehabilitate the sanitary sewer in sections and may spend approximately two to three days in each location to complete rehabilitation work.
- It typically takes a few hours to three days to repair a single maintenance hole, depending on the work required. When the maintenance hole needs to be completely replaced, this work may take three to five days.
All work is under warranty for two years from the completion date.
Contractor and working hours
The work will be completed by Capital Sewer Services Inc. and supported by consultant AECOM Canada ULC., both under contract to Peel Region. The contractor’s normal working hours are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday to Friday. These hours are consistent with the local municipality’s bylaws. We understand this may cause some inconvenience, but shorter working days would require this work to affect your neighbourhood over a longer period of time.
If we will need to complete some work overnight to reduce the impact on traffic congestion. We will notify affected residents and businesses before overnight work begins. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience caused by this work.
Areas impacted by construction
Repairing maintenance holes often requires digging around the existing maintenance holes to install new parts. These maintenance holes are usually located within the municipal right-of-way, which includes the street and the land owned by the municipality between the street and your water service box (the water service box is a small, round, metal valve located outside, on the property line between your house and the road). If maintenance holes are not within the right-of-way, Peel Region has obtained legal access through easements.
Depending on the location of the maintenance hole, this work may cause temporary damage to roads, curbs, sidewalks, boulevards, driveway aprons, and lawns within the municipal right-of-way or easement. Any damage caused by Regional construction will be repaired.
Traffic impacts
Temporary lane reductions will be required to complete this work. The following is the list of expected traffic impacts.
April 28 to May 12, 2025
- Crews will be working in the intersection of Ninth Line and Erin Centre Boulevard. Traffic travelling southbound on Ninth Line will not be able to turn left onto Erin Centre Boulevard. Travel in all other directions will be maintained.
Partial lane reductions will be occurring throughout April and May 2025
- Erin Centre Boulevard will be reduced to a single shared lane between Roadside Way and Longford Drive.
- The westbound right-turning lane on Erin Centre Boulevard between Dubonet Drive and Tenth Line West will be reduced. Turning right from Erin Centre Boulevard onto Tenth Line West will still be possible.
- The westbound lane on Erin Centre Boulevard between Oscar Peterson Boulevard and Dubonet Drive will be reduced. Traffic will still be able to continue west.
- Erin Centre Boulevard will be reduced to a single westbound lane between Destination Drive and Palmetto Place.
Where a single lane is shared with oncoming traffic, please be sure to yield to oncoming traffic as stated by the road signs.
During this time, traffic will be directed by police officers or flag persons. Emergency service vehicles and school buses will be permitted to cross through the closure with guidance from the onsite contractor.
We apologize for any delays or inconvenience resulting from these traffic impacts.
Bus route impacts
There will be impacts to MiWay bus routes 9 East and 35 East starting Monday April 28 until Monday May 12, 2025:
- No left turns onto eastbound Erin Centre Boulevard.
- Stops 3570 (between Ninth Line and Longford Drive) and 3501 (between Longford Drive and Churchill Meadows Boulevard) along Erin Centre Drive will be missed during the detour.
Visit miway.ca/updates for more information about changes to bus routes.

Safety during construction
Construction zones require extra caution to keep everyone safe – pedestrians, cyclists, drivers, and construction workers. When driving, walking, or biking through the construction area, please be aware of your surroundings, watch for construction crews and other road users, slow down, account for delays, and consider other routes if possible. Learn more about how to stay safe in construction zones.
We understand that construction can be disruptive, and we appreciate your patience as we work to improve our community’s infrastructure. This work both maintains and improves Peel’s world class water system, allowing us to provide reliable wastewater services to support a thriving community for life.
