Project 19-2410 November 27, 2024 update
Streets affected: Ninth Line and Erin Centre Boulevard
Advance notice
Peel Region will be working in your neighbourhood within the next year to rehabilitate the existing sanitary sewer system and maintenance holes (commonly called manholes), as shown on the attached maps. Sanitary sewers are underground pipes that carry wastewater from your home to a water resource recovery facility. Wastewater is created when water is flushed down the toilet, or goes down the drain in your sink, tub, or shower.
Important note
This upcoming construction will take place in the municipal right-of-way and within permanent easements.
- The municipal right-of way includes the street and the land owned by your city between the street and your water service box (small, round metal valve in either your driveway or lawn).
- An easement is where Peel Region has obtained legal access to enter your property for the purposes of maintaining and improving Regional infrastructure.
This work may impact the bottom of your driveway and the area around the sidewalk. We therefore recommend delaying any major landscaping or driveway paving until after this construction has been completed.
Before construction begins
Before we start construction, you may notice several activities in your area:
- We will survey your street and use temporary spray paint or flags to mark the location of underground gas, hydro, and cable on roads, driveways, and lawns.
- We will take pictures and record video to help us restore the area as close as possible to its former condition, after construction takes place.
We expect these activities to take place in the beginning of January 2025.
Traffic and parking
This work will require digging trenches in the street and temporarily occupying some lanes.
You will be informed prior to any lane reduction or road closure occurring.
Temporary lane reductions
We will need to reduce traffic to a single shared lane on the following streets:
- Ninth Line between Parkgate Drive and Britannia Road West
- Britannia Road West between Ninth Line and Maple Gate Circle
- Ninth Line between Britannia Road West and McDowell Drive
- Tacc Drive between Ninth Line and Farmcote Drive
- Ninth Line between Tacc Drive and Burdette Crescent
We expect the lane reductions to occur for approximately one to three days. During this time, traffic will be directed by Traffic Control persons and police officers as necessary. Emergency service vehicles and school buses will be permitted to cross through the closure with guidance from the onsite contractor.
Temporary Road Closures
- Parkgate Drive at Ninth Line
- Freeman Terrace at Ninth Line
- Talias Crescent between 3883 Talias Crescent and 3859 Talias Crescent
- Deepwood Heights at Ninth Line
- Janice Dr at Ninth Line
- Henrietta Way at Ninth Line
We expect the road closures to occur for approximately two to three weeks. Detour signs will be posted to direct the follow of traffic where closures are in place
We apologize for any delays or inconvenience resulting from these traffic impacts.
Temporary trail closures
Temporary trail closures will be required along Lisgar Meadow Brook Trail as a result of construction. We anticipate this closure to be 2-3 months. We will deliver more detailed information to your home or business closer to the proposed construction date. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding and patience.
In addition, as your city’s future planning activities may change, we may alter our plans to improve sanitary sewers in your neighbourhood. We will deliver more detailed information to your home or business closer to the proposed construction date.
