Project 18-2300 C - November 16, 2023 update
Streets affected: Fair Birch Drive and Birchview Drive, Mississauga
Peel Region has been working in your neighbourhood to replace the aging sanitary sewer just north of Fair Birch Drive, along the Lornewood Creek water course. This work is required to maintain and improve existing wastewater services.
At this stage of the project, we have completed the installation of the sanitary sewer and will be:
- Completing the installation of maintenance holes in the area, including maintenance holes at the intersection of Fair Birch Drive and Birchview Drive.
- Testing and bringing the new sanitary sewer into service.
- Restoring the area; beginning at Fair Birch Drive and Birchview Drive and continuing east.
Traffic impacts
- We expect Birchview Drive to re-open to northbound and southbound through traffic for the week of November 20th, 2023. This date is weather dependent and will be identified via road signs.
- Once the sanitary sewer has been brought into service and the maintenance holes at the intersection of Fair Birch Drive and Birchview Drive has been installed, we will be able to restore the intersection to as close to pre-existing conditions as possible. We expect restoration of the intersection to occur the week of December 11th.
- Fair Birch Drive has been reduced to a single shared lane, east of Mirada Place, as shown on the map below. Where a single lane is shared with oncoming traffic on Fair Birch Drive, please be sure to yield to oncoming traffic in accordance with the posted road signs. This lane reduction is expected to occur until the week of December 11th.
