Project 16-2905 B
Streets affected: Watersedge Road, Country Club Crescent, Meadow Wood Road and Orr Road.
Project updates
Peel Region will be replacing the sanitary sewers along Watersedge Road, Country Club Crescent, Meadow Wood Road and Orr Road, as indicated on the map. Sanitary sewers are underground pipes that carry wastewater from your home to a wastewater treatment facility. Wastewater is created when water goes down a drain or toilet. As pipes age, we need to replace them to provide you with high-quality wastewater services.
Construction schedule
Construction is planned to start on August 25, 2025 and is expected to be completed by June 2026. These dates may change due to weather and other unexpected events. All work is warranted for 2 years from the completion date.
Contractor working hours
The work will be completed by Four Seasons Site Development Limited, designed by WSP Canada Inc., and the consultant for the construction period is R.V. Anderson Associates Limited, all under contract to Peel Region.
Working hours are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday to Friday. These hours are consistent with local municipal bylaws and help shorten the amount of time construction is in your neighbourhood.
Traffic and parking
We may need to temporarily close roads or reduce traffic to a single lane. If this is needed, we will place signs giving directions. On-street parking will be reduced when we are working on your street.
Waste collection
If you receive Peel waste collection, your garbage, recycling, and organics will be picked up on your regularly scheduled day. It’s the contractor’s responsibility to move these bins from the end of your driveway to a location where waste collection vehicles can pick them up. Make sure your house number is marked on each bin, so they can be returned to the right address.
Vibrations, noise, and dust
You could feel slight vibrations and experience some minor noise and dust from construction work.
Areas impacted
Installing sanitary sewers usually requires digging a trench within the municipal right-of-way. The municipal right-of-way includes the street and the municipal-owned land between the street and the water service box, a small, round, metal valve located outside on the property line between your home or business and the road. This trench might cause temporary damage to roads, curbs, sidewalks, boulevards, lawns, and the bottom of driveways.
We recommend that you delay driveway paving or major landscaping projects until this work is completed. Any damage caused by our construction will be repaired.
In-ground sprinkler systems
Your front lawn may be affected, so we strongly recommend moving any sprinkler lines in the municipal right-of-way or next to the sidewalk. If you cannot move these sprinkler lines, send us your irrigation map or flag each sprinkler head within one meter of the sidewalk, curb, or driveway.
Tree protection and trimming
Trees in the municipal right-of-way will be protected using temporary fencing. Branches on public and private property will be pruned beforehand if they interfere with construction. The contractor will contact you before pruning any trees on private property. If you do not allow the contractor on your property, the branches will be cut vertically at the property line.
Driveway access
We’ll knock on your door if we have to block your driveway for a short time. If a trench blocks your driveway access, the contractor will provide metal road plates. Contact us if you have any access needs.
Repairing impacted areas
Once the new sanitary sewer is buried and work has been completed on all wastewater pipes, we’ll repair the road, curb, sidewalk, driveways, and lawns.
Repairs may be delayed due to seasonal weather conditions. For example:
- Paving cannot take place when the ground is saturated with water or the temperature is below 3 C.
- Asphalt is not available in large volumes during the winter and usually becomes available in mid-May.
Most sod (grass) farms have sod available beginning in late May. We replace sod until the middle of November, weather permitting, to let the roots grow. If we do not replace it by the middle of November, we’ll replace it the following spring.
Repairing grassy areas
The contractor will replace any damaged sod on the boulevard or your front lawn and will take care of it for 30 days. You can help the sod stay healthy by watering it. A longer watering works better than watering more frequently for a shorter time. Early morning watering allows more water to soak in.
Repairing driveways
- Asphalt driveways: If we need to cut a section of your driveway, it will be repaired by paving a strip over the impacted area, resulting in minimal seams. Peel cannot replace your entire driveway. If you would like to have the rest of your driveway paved, contact the contractor, Four Seasons Site Development LTD., at 905-670-7655. The contractor will then share contact information for the company hired to do the paving repairs.
If you decide to have your entire driveway repaved, this extra paving work is your responsibility and outside Peel Region's jurisdiction.
- Interlock or concrete driveways: If we damage a portion of your driveway, our contractor will repair the damaged portion.
Temporary restoration
The City of Mississauga is planning to complete road work on Watersedge Road, Country Club Crescent and Meadow Wood Road within the next few years. If this work impacts driveways, curbs, sidewalks, and lawns next to the sidewalk, we will:
- Only pave the areas of the street directly impacted.
- Patch your driveway to cover any places we impacted, as the future road work may affect the bottom of your driveway. After the city paves your street, the driveway will be repaired by paving a strip over the impacted area, resulting in minimal seams.
Peel Region repairs are temporary, as the City of Mississauga will complete restoration as part of their road work. They will send you a separate notice about their construction.
Optional protection plans
Homeowners may not know they are responsible for maintaining the water and wastewater pipes up to the property line. If a pipe breaks, it can cause unexpected and costly repairs. Peel has partnered with Service Line Warranties of Canada to offer homeowners optional, affordable protection plans.
Safety during construction
Construction zones require extra caution to keep everyone safe, including pedestrians, cyclists, drivers, and construction workers. When walking or driving through the construction area, please be aware of your surroundings, watch for construction crews and other road users, slow down, account for delays, and consider other routes if possible.
