Project 16-2300 S - December 12, 2022 update
Streets affected: Derry Road, Airport Road, Ripon Street, Scarboro Street, York Street, Legion Road.
The Region of Peel has been working in your neighbourhood to rehabilitate the sanitary sewer system.
Sanitary sewers are underground pipes that carry wastewater from your home to a wastewater treatment plant. Wastewater is created when water is flushed down the toilet, or goes down the drain in your sink, tub, or shower.
At this time, we have finished relining the interior of the sewer along Merritt Avenue, Victory Crescent, Ireson Court, Landen Court and Justine Drive. To extend the service life of the sewer, our contractors have cleaned the existing sewer pipe and placed a new resin (plastic) lining within it.
The remaining work has been put on hold due to the weather. We will shut down for the winter on December 22, 2022. We have left the construction site in a safe condition for the rest of the winter.
Schedule for remaining lining and sewer rehabilitation work
We expect to start work again in April 2023 to complete the following:
- Lining the sewers on Ripon Street, Airport Road, York Street, Scarboro Street, Legion Road and Derry Road East,
- Lining and other rehabilitation work on the sewer within the Derry Greenway.
We plan to complete this work by the end of 2023.
We will share further details in a follow-up notice before this work begins in the spring of 2023.
