Project 16-1177 - March 9, 2021 update B

Streets affected: Mayfield Road, 325 meters west of Clarkway Drive.

What are we doing

Installing two watermains in a tunnel under the watercourse along Mayfield Road, approximately 325 metres west of Clarkway Drive shown on the attached map.

When

24-hour tunneling will begin Monday, March 22, 2021 and is anticipated to be completed by Friday, April 9, 2021.

Tunneling will be carried out continuously, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

Why continuously for 24 hours, 7 days per week

Continuous tunneling operations will allow the Contractor to shorten the overall construction schedule at the watercourse.

Continuous operations also represent the safest and least disruptive means of tunneling.

What does this mean for you

We do not anticipate there to be significant noise or vibration above normal daytime levels during the tunneling operations.

Efforts have been made to reduce impacts to local residents such as restricting material deliveries and removals by truck to daytime hours.
