Project 06-4015
Project scope
Peel Region will be reconstructing the road and making corridor improvements on Winston Churchill Boulevard from south of Mayfield Road to north of the Credit River bridge.
This work is part of Peel Project 06-4015, Winston Churchill Reconstruction and Corridor Improvements, City of Brampton, Town of Halton Hills.
What are we doing
- Reconstructing the road due to its poor asphalt condition.
- Changing the vertical grade to improve sightlines and the corridor’s overall safety.
- Improving drainage.
- Widening the road to accommodate paved shoulders (and making other roadway improvements as required). The existing 2-lane configuration will remain. We are not adding additional lanes.
- Adding designated left- and right-turn lanes to improve the intersection alignment at Winston Churchill Boulevard and Old Pine Crest.
- Replacing an undersized and deteriorating box culvert (a reinforced structure which channels water) to improve hydraulic capacity (water flow through a structure) and make it easier for fish to move through the water system.
Next steps
Tree removal
Peel Region has retained Shady Lane Tree Care Inc. to remove trees before utilities are relocated. This work will be completed before summer of 2024.
Hydro pole relocations
Hydro pole relocations have begun along the corridor as of December 2024. Halton Hills Hydro, Alectra, and Hydro One will continue their relocation work throughout the winter of 2025, with completion expected by Q2, 2025. Road construction will begin once these relocation works are completed.
Construction
Construction is expected to start in 2025 and end in the spring of 2027.
