Notice of study completion – March 3, 2025
Background
Peel Region initiated a Schedule B Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (MCEA) study for the new offline storage facility required to alleviate capacity constraints at the Lakelands Wastewater Pumping Station (WWPS), in the City of Brampton. The MCEA Study developed and evaluated potential off-site locations within the vicinity of the WWPS for the placement of the new offline storage facility.
Based on the evaluation of alternatives and input from interested and affected parties during the Public Information Centre, the preferred solution is to construct the offline storage facility in the eastern portion of Lakelands Village Park, west of the Southlake Boulevard and Deep Sea Drive intersection.
Process
The MCEA Study is being conducted in compliance with Schedule B of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (October 2000, amended 2007, 2011, 2015, 2023 and 2024), which is approved under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act.
Project file report
The MCEA Project File Report has been prepared to document the planning process followed, including conclusions and recommendations, and how public input was received and considered. By this notice, the Project File Report is being placed on public record for a 30-calendar day review period starting March 3, 2025, and ending April 2, 2025, in accordance with the requirements of the MCEA process. The Project File Report is available for public review on the Region’s project website.
Subject to comments received as a result of this notice, the Region intends to proceed with the detailed design and construction of the preferred solution as documented in the Project File Report.
Your input is important
Written comments or questions may be provided to the Region’s Project Manager, Paul Rastrullo, on or before April 2, 2025. In addition, a request may be made to the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks for an order requiring a higher level of study, or that conditions be imposed (e.g., require further studies), only on the grounds that the requested order may prevent, mitigate, or remedy adverse impacts on constitutionally protected Indigenous and treaty rights. Requests on other grounds will not be considered. Requests should include the requester’s contact information and full name.
Requests should specify what kind of order is being requested (request for conditions or a request for an individual/comprehensive environmental assessment), how an order may prevent, mitigate, or remedy potential adverse impacts on Indigenous and treaty rights, and any information in support of the statements in the request. This will ensure that the Ministry is able to efficiently begin reviewing the request.
The request should be sent in writing by mail or by email to:
