The building
1358 Queen Street West is located in Ward 5 in Brampton. The proposed shelter will be located in the Credit Valley neighbourhood, close to:

- Central location within Brampton.
- Proximity to existing public and planned rapid transit and a range of services and amenities for youth.
- The site being vacant and owned by Peel Region.
- Comparable built form and ongoing urban diversification in the area.

- Access to specific programming and supports to address health challenges, housing needs, employment services, and education for youth residents.
Springbrook House incorporates Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) to deliver a high-quality, efficient, and sustainable building. The project utilizes innovative systems such as mass timber and panelized modular construction, which allow for greater precision, reduced construction timelines, and minimized on-site impacts. These approaches support enhanced building performance, improved durability, and a lower environmental footprint, while maintaining flexibility in design and long-term adaptability.
Springbrook House participated in Enbridge Gas’s Savings by Design program by incorporating energy efficiency considerations early in the design process and working with Enbridge’s technical advisors to review and optimize building systems. This collaboration supported informed design decisions that improved overall energy performance, helped reduce long-term operating costs, and aligned the project with broader sustainability and energy conservation goals.
The project meets Peel Region’s Net Zero Emissions (NZE) Building Standard for New Construction and is registered on the Canada Green Building Council project database for the Zero Carbon Building – Design v4 certification.

The vision
Springbrook House is a project included in the Peel Community Housing Development Program.
There is a demonstrated need for a new permanent youth shelter to provide safe space, and programs for those aged 16 to 24 in our community.
Youth homelessness can look different than adult homelessness. Youth may often stay with friends temporarily when they do not have access to safe housing with family. These temporary solutions do not provide stable or consistent housing.
Our goal is to create a place where everyone enjoys a sense of belonging and has access to the services and opportunities needed to thrive in each stage of their lives.
We are working with you in the early planning stages to ensure your feedback is heard. Your participation is important to us, and we look forward to your input.
