Youth Advisory Roundtable
The Peel Poverty Reduction Committee recognizes the importance of engaging youth and ensuring their voices are included in the work of poverty reduction in Peel.
Members of the Youth Advisory Roundtable will work together to provide their perspectives and recommendations on social issues that impact them. The overall goal is to engage youth in community issues and concerns as it relates to poverty and inequality.
This is an opportunity for you to play a valuable and active role fostering the development of confident, independent, and motivated youth leaders. Some activities you can expect to be involved in include:
- Identifying youth concerns surrounding poverty in Peel.
- Partner with community agencies and systems leaders to advocate for change.
- Inform and champion a Youth in Poverty Research Project in collaboration with University of Toronto, United Way GTA, and the Family and Child Health Initiative.
Eligibility
We’re looking for youth ages 15 to 24 who live in Brampton, Caledon, or Mississauga, who have a diversity of experiences, perspectives, skills and identify with one or more of the following:
- Live with a disability.
- Live with or has had experience living in poverty.
- Has lived in Canada for 5 years or less (Newcomer).
- Is an international student.
- Belongs to a racialized group, the LGBTQ2S+ community, or the Indigenous community.

Time commitment
You will be required to attend monthly evening meetings, taking place online or occasionally in-person.
