As a registered nurse and advisor in Peel’s mass vaccination program, Cheryl believes that representation in health care matters.
She knows that working with community partners is an important part of building trust and providing access to health care for Black, African, and Caribbean residents in the community.
“Especially when they have questions, they want to speak to someone who looks like them and understands their hesitancies, so that they can make an informed choice,” says Cheryl, “So having black physicians really gave that chance for people to just walk-in and talk to a doctor or nurse to have their questions answered.”
