Peel Celebrates recognizes the outstanding contributions and work our employees have accomplished to enhance our organization and the wider Peel community.

2024 Recipients
CAO Award for Excellence
Recipient: Canada-Wide Early Learning Child Care Expansion Team
This team's commitment to addressing the need for more childcare spaces helped provide nearly 6,000 additional affordable, high-quality childcare spaces for children and families in Peel.
The team also established a fair and transparent way of providing childcare that gives marginalized communities access first and sets the stage for long-term community development.
Climate Action Innovation Award
Recipient: The Infrastructure Programming Team
This team's transformative work on Peel Region's Stormwater Servicing Master Plan:
- Delivered environmental, social, and economic benefits to the Peel community through their use of green roofs, rain gardens, and other low impact development practices.
- Prepared Peel by making its infrastructure more sustainable and resilient to the aspects of climate change (such as temperature and precipitation) in the future.
Corporate Services Commissioner's Values in Action Award
Recipient: Teresa O’Hara
By promoting digital literacy across Peel, Teresa significantly:
- Enriched Peel's organizational culture.
- Improved the organization’s ability to reduce time and effort while still producing a high-quality service.
Health Services Commissioner's Values in Action Award
Recipient: Immunization Services/Communicable Diseases Contact Centre (IS/CDCC) Team
The IS/CDCC team's commitment to providing compassionate care in community nursing:
- Supported the diverse healthcare needs of our community by answering approximately 4,800 calls from those seeking care.
- Addressed the fair opportunity for people to reach their fullest health potential and improve community health outcomes.
Human Services Commissioner's Values in Action Award
Recipient: Joan Crowe
Joan's exemplary leadership of the Business Information Systems team helped improve the effectiveness and efficiency of Peel's systems.
Legislative Services Commissioner's Values in Action Award
Recipient: Whitney Miller
Whitney's extensive expertise in property and business law and mentorship greatly enhanced the Legal Services team's performance.
Public Works Commissioner's Values in Action Award
Recipient: Billing Team
The Billing Team’s rollout of the "Water Billing Modernization" project, with major service delivery improvements completed in 2023, enhanced customer service and how well services were provided during challenging times.
Community for Life Award
Recipient: Income and Social Supports - Stability Supports Unit
Income and Social Supports - Stability Supports Unit:
- Lifted residents out of poverty and addressed complex challenges such as trauma, crisis, and social assistance needs.
- Worked with community partners to host the impactful Adventures for Youth Information Fair, connecting vulnerable youth with vital community resources and support services.
Innovate Award
Recipient: Mobile Computer-Aided Dispatch (MCAD) Team
Through their innovative implementation of the Mobile Computer-Aided Dispatch (MCAD) system, this team:
- Enhanced emergency response efficiency, paramedic preparedness, and safety by providing real-time, comprehensive 911 call details directly to paramedics' devices.
- Provided paramedics with accurate and timely information, allowing them to make decisions based on facts in emergency situation.
Inspire Award
Recipient: Kim Badder
Kim's inspiring leadership has nurtured a positive and inclusive team environment where everyone feels recognized and open to growing both personally and professionally.
Spotlight People Leader Award
Recipient: Rachel Patterson
Owing to Rachel's exceptional leadership, Rachel's team managed significant projects effectively while fostering a high-performing team culture, especially during the pandemic and through other organizational changes.
We All Belong Award
Recipient: Mark Castro
Mark's deep commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace:
- Led to service improvements at TransHelp, addressing accessibility and removing barriers for persons with disabilities.
- Influenced change and fostered an environment where all individuals feel valued and supported.
Wellness Award
Recipient: Marisol Sokalski
Marisol is dedicated to promoting employee wellness within the EarlyON and Special Needs Resourcing Unit.
She went above and beyond her regular duties to lead various wellness activities that have positively impacted the team's well-being and cohesiveness.
