Seniors Health and Wellness Village at Peel Manor Wins Top Honours at 2025 Brampton Urban Design Awards
BRAMPTON, ON (October 16, 2025) - The Seniors Health and Wellness Village (SHWV) at Peel Manor has been recognized with the Award of Excellence and the Healthy by Design award in the Building Design category, and named Best Overall Project at the 2025 Brampton Urban Design Awards, honouring its innovative approach to integrated health care for seniors. The awards credit the collaborative work of Montgomery Sisam Architects, Bousfields Inc., Buttcon Limited, EXP, Dillon Consulting Limited, Vertechs, WSP, and Region of Peel.
Showcased at its grand opening last month, the SHWV was designed to redefine seniors care through a blend of individualized care and integrated community services. The four-storey redevelopment combines a 177-bed long-term care centre with a community hub that includes Adult Day Services, the Thrive Program and associated Integrated Care Centre and an Overnight Respite Care centre, as well as a multi-faith centre, social enterprise operated café and shop, resource centre, hair salon, and meeting spaces.
In presenting the awards, the jury called Peel Manor “a landmark project that sets a new benchmark for long-term care and community health in Brampton,” noting its thoughtful combination of home-like households, community-based services, underground parking, landscaped courtyards, and sustainable design features including green roofs, EV parking, and energy-efficient systems.
The SHWV was previously recognized with Advantage Ontario’s 2024 Innovation and Excellence Capital Project Award and continues to serve as a model for integrated, emotion-based care — helping seniors live and age well in Peel Region.
This recognition celebrates not only the architectural excellence of the Seniors Health and Wellness Village at Peel Manor, but also the vision and collaboration that made it possible. This building demonstrates what’s possible when we design spaces that honour dignity, connection, and community for older adults. It’s a proud moment for Peel Region and for all the partners who helped bring this innovative model of care to life.
