Intro
A day to remember and honour those who have died, been injured, or suffered illness in the workplace.
Body

Brampton, ON (April 28, 2023) – Today marks the National Day of Mourning, a day dedicated to acknowledging those who have lost their lives or suffered health consequences due to workplace hazards.

Flags at Peel Region buildings will be lowered to half-mast, and a moment of silence will be observed at 11 a.m. to remember those who are injured, ill, or have lost their lives at work.

Residents are encouraged to join one of the many events and ceremonies taking place across Peel, or light candles, in honour and reflection of the thousands of lives forever changed.

On this day, we honour and remember those who have lost their life due to a workplace injury. My thoughts are with the loved ones whose lives will forever be changed. We all have a role to play in keeping workers safe. Prevention starts with education, awareness, and a commitment to safety. We must all work together to ensure the health and safety needs of our employees are recognized and always met.
