Peel Region prepares for major snow event tomorrow

Body

BRAMPTON, Ont. – January 24, 2026. Peel Region is preparing for a snow event expected to begin tomorrow. Forecasts show the storm could bring up to 30 cm of snow in parts of Peel region.

Environment Canada has issued yellow warnings across many Ontario communities. Yellow warnings signal hazardous weather that may disrupt travel and cause short-term, localized impacts. We encourage residents to follow Environment Canada’s advice for storm preparation, including limiting travel. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.

Winter road operations are fully prepared for the upcoming snow event. Contracted services have been placed on notice, and staff are on standby to be called in as required to support extended snow removal and post‑storm cleanup operations.

All in‑house and contracted equipment—including spare units—has been serviced throughout the week and is ready for deployment. As always, Peel’s operations yards are ready and will manage the snow event safely and effectively.

Peel Region is also preparing its services to support the safety of residents and staff. At this time, all services remain operational and on regular weekend schedules.

Possible service impacts during the snow event may include:

  • Adult Day services: Regular schedule. Cancellation fees would not apply.
  • Child care and EarlyON sites: Regular schedule including Sunday closure.
  • Community recycling centres (CRCs): Open Saturday. May close Sunday if conditions require.
  • TransHelp: Services may be reduced on Sunday. Cancellation fees would not apply.

We will continue to monitor conditions and share updates as needed.
