Peel Region awarded $16.1M for major Mayfield Road expansion
BRAMPTON, ON (May 30, 2025) – Peel Region has been awarded $16.1 million from the Ontario Ministry of Infrastructure through the Housing-Enabling Core Servicing Fund in support of the Mayfield Road Widening Project.
Funded through the Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program, this investment contributes to the widening of Mayfield Road from two to six lanes from Hurontario Street to Chinguacousy Road. This project will increase critical road infrastructure, alleviate existing congestion, and accommodate future growth and housing development in Brampton and Caledon.
The project also includes significant stormwater infrastructure upgrades, new traffic signalization, and multi-modal features such as active transportation, pedestrian, and transit facilities. It demonstrates forward-looking planning as part of a complete corridor transformation designed to support growth and meet the community’s evolving transportation needs.
Construction is underway and expected to be completed by the end of 2026. Visit Peel’s website for detailed project information.
The Housing-Enabling Core Servicing Fund is part of a broader provincial initiative that allocates funding to build, maintain, and repair essential infrastructure, such as municipal roads, bridges, and culverts, to support the development of new homes in growing communities across Ontario.

Peel Region is proud of being an active and supportive partner to the Province of Ontario. Together, we are providing an exceptional level of both funding and resources in support of the goal to provide more homes to our community.
Nando Iannicca, Peel Region Chair and CEO of Peel Region.
With this provincial funding, we’re strengthening our roadways and infrastructure. This means more than just building — it’s about opening doors to housing and creating communities that can thrive sustainably. This investment marks a meaningful step forward in supporting the people who live here today and those who will call Peel home tomorrow.
Honourable Graham McGregor, MPP for Brampton North.
Expanding Mayfield Road from two to six lanes isn’t just about moving traffic, it’s about unlocking new housing opportunities and preparing Brampton for the future. I’m proud to see our government investing in the infrastructure that will support families, jobs, and growth for years to come.
MPP Amarjot Sandhu, MPP Brampton West.
Our government is investing in critical infrastructure to enable new housing developments in local communities. The expansion of Mayfield Road, supported through our Housing-Enabling Core Servicing funding stream, will reduce gridlock and build a strong foundation for housing growth, providing residents and families in Brampton with more seamless commutes and more housing options.
Kinga Surma, Minister of Infrastructure.
