BRAMPTON, ON (November 21, 2024) - In 2024, Peel Region achieved $9.8 million in cost savings and $4.8 million in cost avoidance through improved service delivery and financial efficiencies. This result reflects Peel’s commitment to value for money, continuous improvement and innovation.

As part of Peel's Continuous Improvement (CI) Strategy, 33 completed initiatives enhanced client experiences, improved operational quality, and optimized resource allocation across services.

Peel's continuous improvement efforts align with the 2024–2027 Strategic Agenda, prioritizing Housing and Social Impact, Sustainability, Service Excellence, Our People and Future Ready.

Initiatives underway include accelerating housing-enabling infrastructure projects, such as the expansion of the G.E. Booth Water Resource Recovery Facility, now set for completion in 2026—three years ahead of schedule—supporting the construction of up to 47,000 additional housing units in Peel and implementing a Psychological and Physical Health and Safety Framework, advancing the Climate Change Master Plan, and introducing a Supply Chain Diversity Pilot to support equity in procurement.

Peel is fostering continuous improvement and innovation by equipping staff with Lean Six Sigma training, launching a CI portal in 2025 to encourage grassroots improvement ideas, and driving collaborative solutions to complex challenges.

With a cumulative cost containment of $70.7 million between 2020 and 2024, Peel Region continues to set a benchmark in public service efficiency and community-focused governance.
