Excellence in procurement earns Peel international recognition
BRAMPTON, Ont. (September 24, 2026) – Peel Region has received the 2026 Achievement of Excellence in Procurement® Award from the National Procurement Institute (NPI). This award recognizes Peel Region’s commitment to excellence, innovation, and leadership in public procurement. This award is recognized as the premier award in the public procurement profession.
Peel is one of 13 organizations in Canada to receive the award this year and one of 5 first-time Canadian recipients.
The Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award recognizes public-sector organizations that demonstrate best practices in areas such as innovation, professionalism, productivity, leadership, governance, and technology-enabled procurement. Award recipients are selected through an independent evaluation process and must meet rigorous standards across a broad range of procurement practices.
The recognition reflects Peel Region’s continued focus on transparent and accountable procurement, ethical governance, strategic sourcing, supplier engagement, professional development, technology, and continuous improvement.
Procurement at Peel continues to grow as public-sector organizations seek to support Canadian businesses, strengthen the local economy and supply chains, and advance initiatives such as Buy Canada. Strong public procurement helps us use public funds responsibly, foster fair and transparent processes, and deliver the best possible value for the communities we serve.
